Sangha Walk
Cotswolds circular walk
Time & Location
24 Sept 2023, 10:00 – 16:30
Hawkesbury Upton, High St, Hawkesbury Upton GL9 1AU, UK
About the event
Our Sangha Walk will be in the beautiful Cotswold countryside around the villages of Hawkesbury Upton and Hawkesbury. This is a circular walk of around 6 miles on easy paths with two short climbs. The walk will take 3 to 4 hours, depending on how long we stop for our picnic lunch. There will be a period of 30 to 40 minutes silent walking, probably after lunch. There is the option of having a cup of tea in the Beaufort Arms pub in the village at the end of the walk.
We start and end the walk from the village hall carpark in Hawkesbury Upton - see below – parking is free. The route follows paths and tracks along quiet wooded valleys, passing though hamlets and rising up into more open countryside along part of the Cotswold Way with wide vistas across the Severn Estuary and beyond. There is the option of shortening the walk at Monument Farm should that be necessary.
Meet at 10am at St Andrews Park (top corner by the toilets – junction of Somerville and Melita Road) to share lifts and drive to Hawkesbury probably via M4 and A46.
A second meet up point will be at the start of the walk at 10.45am - Hawkesbury Upton Village Hall carpark, Hawkesbury Upton High Street GL9 1AU – coming from the A46 along France Lane - it’s on the right in the middle of the village almost opposite the Beaufort Arms.
We aim to start walking by 11.00am. Please make sure you are wearing suitable boots or shoes and that you bring warm and water proof clothing, water and your own picnic - this is not a shared lunch.
Please RSVP using the button below. There are also options to let us know if you need a lift or can offer a lift from St Andrews Park – Please note - this is the only meet up point in Bristol for lift sharing. Also please let us know if you plan to meet us in Hawkesbury Upton so we don’t miss anyone.
